Tom White, Uber Vietnam
Earlier this year, Tom moved from Perth to Ho Chi Minh City to serve as General Manager of Uber Vietnam. In his role, Tom is responsible for the development and growth of the business and its operations here. Tom joined Uber in January 2015, and took on responsibility for the Perth market in July of that year before expanding his scope to also cover operations in Adelaide in early 2016. Immediately prior to joining Uber Vietnam, he was the Uber’s Head of Cities in Australia and, as a key member of Uber’s leadership team, was responsible for Uber’s operations and growth in a number of markets across Australia, including Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne.
Before Uber, Tom worked for several years in politics and public policy, most recently as a senior adviser to the Minister for Energy and Education in Western Australia. He also spent a year as the national president of the Young Liberal Movement, Australia’s most prominent and active youth political wing, in 2013. He holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Western Australia.
As a child, Tom lived in Bangkok and has extensively traveled throughout Southeast Asia. He loves tea, but is borderline addicted to cà phê sữa đá! An advocate of sports and health, Tom is now training to run a marathon to compete against his twin brother.
