Mr. Stone is currently Managing Director and CEO of AES-VCM Mong Duong Power Company Limited and President – Vietnam of the AES Corporation (“AES”). He is responsible for all aspects of AES’ business activities in Vietnam including the operation of the 1,242 MW Mong Duong 2 Power Plant and the development and implementation of the AES strategy in Vietnam. AES has offices in Hanoi, HCMC and Quanh Ninh Province.
Mr. Stone moved to Vietnam from Arlington, Virginia in October 2010 to support the financial closing and construction execution of the 2 billion USD Mong Duong 2 Power Plant. In 2014, Mr. Stone was selected as an Executive Board Member of the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD; part of VCCI). Under his leadership, AES Mong Duong has received numerous recognitions from the Government of Vietnam including but not limited to Recognition for Significant Contribution to Society from the Prime Minister of Vietnam in 2015 and has been certified as one of the Top 10 Sustainable Business in the production sector in Vietnam during 2016 by VCCI.
Prior to assuming his current position, Mr. Stone was Managing Director of Construction for AES responsible for approximately one half of the worldwide construction projects. Mr. Stone joined AES in 2000 and has held leadership positions at the business in Puerto Rico and served as President at the AES Huntington Beach Power Station in Southern California where he also served on the Executive Board of the City of Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science in Structural Engineering from the University of Missouri. In his spare time, he enjoys offshore boating, fishing, golf, skeet shooting and visiting his permanent home in sunny Sarasota, Florida.
