AmCham’s Global Leaders Lunch Series is one of our signature programs and provides members and guests with unprecedented access to the political, policy, corporate, and institutional leaders whose expertise, insights, and experience shape the global business climate. AmCham members are invited to participate in a lunch discussion on October 17 featuring Meyer “Sandy” Frucher, Vice Chairman of The NASDAQ OMX Group. In this role, Mr. Frucher is responsible for developing global exchange relationships and serves as an advisor to the NASDAQ senior management team on a broad range of industry and regulatory issues. He joined Nasdaq after the company completed its acquisition of The Philadelphia Stock Exchange, where he was the chairman.
Mr. Frucher has extensive experience in business, government and labor relations, including serving as the chief labor negotiator for New York State, CEO of Battery Park City Authority, and CEO of the New York City School Construction Authority. Mr. Frucher is the founding chairman and trustee emeritus of the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. He also sits on the Boards of the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, the Options Clearing Corporation, the World Federation of Exchanges, New York City Off-Track Betting Operations, and Sirius International Insurance Group. Mr. Frucher received a bachelor’s degree in Government from Columbia University and earned a Master of Public Administration degree from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
Globalization has made the world a smaller place. A financial crisis in an advanced market economy like that of the United States or the European Union or even a stock market collapse in China, can send shock waves throughout the world. Join AmCham for lunch on October 17 to examine current concerns over trade uncertainty, politics, and challenging global macroeconomic conditions that many investors are watching. Mr. Frucher will discuss a variety of topics, including the US-China trade war, emerging market indebtedness, what investors think about possible impeachment of President Trump, the ongoing Brexit fiasco, how Wall Street views some of the Democratic candidates for president in 2020, and whether the recent turmoil in money markets that forced the US Federal Reserve to make huge injections of liquidity into the financial system is a sign of more alarming things to come.
