Jesse Boone has lived in Vietnam for nearly seven years, and currently serves as General Director at the British University of Vietnam, which is developing a purpose-built campus in Ecopark due for completion next year.
Prior to his role at BUV, Jesse was with Indochina Capital, which was a founding member of AmCham Hanoi. Jesse has extensive experience building and leading teams in Vietnam, and working with a broad range of local and foreign businesses throughout the country. He spent three years focused on projects in Vietnam’s industrial parks prior to turning his attention to ICC’s Indochina Plaza Hanoi project for two years.
Jesse has served on the Amcham board twice – once in 2014 and then again in 2016. He has consistently been active within AmCham, not only by attending events but also through frequent participation on a variety of panels the chamber has organized. He enjoys sharing his Vietnam experience with newcomers and old hands alike, and is highly interested to assist American concerns entering Vietnam. Jesse believes that serving on the board enables him to do so more actively, and in his current role also serves as an excellent conduit between companies and top young talent coming out of Vietnam’s universities.
Jesse is from Washington, DC, and has a BA from GWU. He grew up in Kinshasa, and has also lived in Singapore and Fontainebleau, France, where he earned his MBA at Insead. He lives in Hanoi with his wife and son, and can be found on weekends running and peddling around the lake.
