Marco Breu is the Managing Partner of McKinsey & Company Vietnam Limited. He also co-leads McKinsey’s financial institutions practice in Southeast Asia with a main focus on Retail Banking and Insurance.
Marco is a Swiss national and joined McKinsey in 1999 in Zurich. He moved to Asia in 2002 and was first based in Seoul, then in Singapore, before taking over as Thailand Country Head. In 2008, he launched the McKinsey Vietnam office and has been leading the location as Country Head since then. Before being a consultant, Marco worked in the Asset Management Industry.
In Vietnam, he works with private companies across sectors on corporate strategy, business transformation, corporate governance and growth strategies and also advises SOEs on their business restructuring programs. He is also involved in the work with the public sector and provincial governments in the area of economic development, masterplan development and infrastructure.
Marco is actively involved in the vibrant start up community in Vietnam and the region. In 2006 he founded an annual entrepreneurship program for the Mekong region. The program has had over 600 teams from Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand and the Yunnan Province/China participating in annual business screening, business plan building and business incubation.
He has a Masters Degree of Economics from the University of Berne, Switzerland and the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK. In his spare time, Marco enjoys scuba diving, flying Cessna planes and spending time with his family.
