Established in September 1995, Ford Vietnam Limited (FVL) is the joint-venture between Ford Motor Company headquartered in Michigan, U.S.A (75%) and Vietnam’s Diesel Song Cong Company (25%). Total investment to date is US$125 million. Ford Vietnam’s assembly plant in Hai Duong opened in November 1997, and has as a current annual capacity of 14,000 vehicles.
FVL also has a nationwide network of 31 dealers and outlets, which is being further expanded. The company is responsible for 700 local jobs among its Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City offices and a Hai Duong plant, as well as thousands of indirect jobs through its Ford dealer and supplier networks. Don Stokes is a partner based in our Ho Chi Minh City ofﬁce. He is admitted to the New York State Bar. He has worked for several years in Freshﬁelds’ London, New York and Tokyo ofﬁces before being based permanently in Ho Chi Minh City.
