Plan is an international, humanitarian, child-centred development organization. We are independent, with no religious, political or governmental affiliations. Worldwide, we work with children and communities, and our supporters and partners, to tackle the root causes of poverty. Core to our work is raising awareness of children’s rights.
We work in with almost 38,000 communitites in 48 developing countries, covering a population of 28.2 million children, and we have supporters and donors in 20 countries. Plan in Vietnam’s Country strategic plan from 2011-2016 supports the vision that ”Children in Vietnam – especially the most vulnerable and marginalised – live in communities that increasingly respect and promote their rights, enabling them to actively and meaningfully participate in society”.
In order to achieve this goal, three Country Programmes have been designed to address key issues affecting children in Plan’s area of operation over the next five years:
• Early Childhood Care and Development in Ethnic Minority Areas:Focusing on the right to survival and development of ethnic minority children;
• Child Protection for All: Ensuring the right to protection from harmand violence of all children, with a special focus on children in special circumstances;
• Child Centred Disaster Risk Management and Climate ChangeAdaptation: Promoting the right to protection and assistance in emergencies and building the resilience of children, families and communities to better cope with the impact of disasters and climate change.
