Eric Johnson, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer

Eric Johnson joined Freshfields in Vietnam in 2017 and was promoted to Partner in May 2024. At Freshfields, Eric focuses on representing leading multinational corporations and financial investors on their investments, exits and operations in Vietnam and other key jurisdictions in Southeast Asia, many of which are from the United States.

In recent years, Freshfields has more than doubled the size of our US practice to nearly 400 lawyers across three offices in New York, Washington D.C. and Silicon Valley.  As an American working for Freshfields in Asia, Eric has been on the forefront of the firm’s efforts to find opportunities to work with more of our US clients on their matters in Vietnam and other key Southeast Asian jurisdictions and has spent significant time in recent years visiting and working from the US offices and creating connections between the US and Asia.

Eric has been an active member of AmCham since arriving in Vietnam and served four terms on the Board of Governors in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2024. In addition, Eric represented AmCham on the VBF board in 2019.

Eric holds Bachelor of Arts degree from New York University and a J.D. from Cornell Law School.  In his spare time, Eric enjoys cycling, exploring Vietnam on his BMW GS and getting as many ski days in as possible in Japan and/or his home state of Colorado.
