
Ngoc Anh (Julia) Tran, Abbott Laboratories
Ngoc Anh (Julia) Tran is ASEAN Regional Director of Government Affairs for Abbott Laboratories, covering five markets including Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar. Julia is an economist by background. She earned her MBA at RMIT University, Australia in 2008.
Julia Tran has been helping enterprises to navigate public policies in these markets for 22 years. Her experience includes leading government and public affairs teams in multinational companies in promoting a business enabling environment. This journey has given her the unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities in these dynamic ASEAN markets. During the on-going five years with Abbott, Julia has supported different affiliates from nutrition, pharmaceutical, medical devices, and diagnostics in shaping healthcare & market access policies in Vietnam, Thailand & CLM.
Before joining Abbott, Julia was director of government & public affairs for Monsanto Vietnam where she drove public sector’s agenda in accepting biotechnology in agriculture. Earlier, Julia assisted Asian Mineral Resources Ltd, a Toronto listed company at the role of Deputy General Director managing legal, human resources, government & public affairs teams in a regulatory complex mining joint venture. During her consultancy career at KPMG, Julia was manager of tax and corporate services where she consulted companies on market entry, expansion, tax & custom practices and acquisition.
Julia is currently chairwoman of center of excellence for APACMed in Vietnam. She is also an active member of the many other business associations namely: Vietnam Business Forum, US-Asean Business Council and American/European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam, where she brings her expertise to support businesses in healthcare sector in Vietnam as well as strengthening US-Vietnam trading & investment relationship.
