AmCham has voiced our recommendations and concerns on a number of draft laws and decrees important for the development of the digital and creative economy. We see improvements in some areas but many challenges remain.

In the coming months, we anticipate a technical Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) meeting between the US and Vietnam focused on digital trade and services issues. In preparation for these talks, AmCham’s Innovation & Digital Economy Committee will write a paper outlining ongoing challenges and member suggestions on a number of legislative items including the Cybersecurity Law/Decree 53; Personal Data Protection Decree; draft amended Telecommunications Law; draft amendments to Decree 72; Decree 71 (previously Decree 6); draft E-Transactions Law; the Cinema Law; and the IP Law.

AmCham members are invited to participate in a committee call on Thursday afternoon to discuss these issues and plans for this advocacy paper. This virtual meeting will use the Teams platform. Please register your participation by clicking on the button below or by calling (84) 24 3934 2790. Registered participants will receive an email the day before the meeting with the URL link and instructions.
