AmCham, Concordia International School of Hanoi, and the InterContinental Hanoi Westlake are partnering on a blood drive on September 12 with the Vietnamese National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion because blood supplies are running very low in Vietnam right now.
This blood drive is conducted with the highest standards for safety and cleanliness. There is no danger of contracting illness from donating blood. A new, sterile collection set is used for each donor. During the heightened risk during the coronavirus outbreak, we will be strictly following the following procedures:
- Temperature screening will take place prior to entry of the area.
- Facemasks will be provided to all registered donors and will be required to wear at all times during this activity.
- Hand sanitizer will be provided and encouraged.
- A very limited number of donors will be permitted entrance at one time.
- Collection stations will be spread out to ensure adequate distancing.
Giving blood is a simple thing to do, but it can make a big difference in the lives of others. It feels great to donate and it only takes 30 minutes! And, it’s something you can spare as most people have plenty of blood to spare yet there is still not enough blood around when people need it. Most people who donate blood will experience no side effects. Drinking 3 or 4 glasses of water an hour before the donation can prevent lightheadedness which some people may notice. You will be someone’s hero – in fact, you could help save more than one life with just one donation. Plus, you’ll get free snacks and drinks! We can all do our part to help during these challenging times because social distancing does not mean social disengagement. Join us and donate blood on Saturday, September 12. You can donate from 2:00pm-5:40pm. Registration in advance is required by clicking on the button above. A government-issued photo ID is required to donate blood.
A reminder that if you are feeling sick, do not come to this activity or any other activities – stay at home. Also, if you or somebody you know experiences symptoms of the Covid-19 virus: fever, cough, and difficulty breathing – or those concerned they may have been exposed to the virus, immediately call Vietnam’s health hotline 19003228.
