AmCham’s Information Technology, Telecom and IPR Committee (ITTI) will host a lunch discussion on intellectual property issues on July 15 with President Trump’s Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator.
Mr. Vishal Amin’s position, often referred to as the “White House IP czar”, was created by an act of Congress in 2008 in order to help the government combat online piracy. Prior to assuming his current role, Mr. Amin was senior counsel on the House Judiciary Committee. A graduate of Johns Hopkins University and Washington University School of Law, Mr. Amin served in the administration of George W. Bush as the White House’s associate director for domestic policy and as special assistant and associate director for policy in the United States Department of Commerce. Mr. Amin met with AmCham members last summer for a similar discussion and is interested in hearing an update on IP issues in Vietnam from members ahead of his meetings with Vietnamese government counterparts. He will be accompanied by representatives from the National Economic Council and Department of Homeland Security.
