Professor Jeffrey Sachs: Policy Agenda for Asia Pacific

The economic downturn caused by the global pandemic hit as Vietnam and other member economies of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum are working to achieve consensus on a renewed long-term vision for the region. AmCham members are invited to join the US Committee for the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council at 8am on November 18 for a discussion of the policy agenda for the Asia Pacific with Professor Jeffrey D. Sachs, Director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University.

Jeffrey Sachs is an American economist, academic, public policy analyst and is known as one of the world’s leading experts on sustainable development, economic development, and the fight against poverty. Professor Sachs is Director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University and President of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network.

At this virtual discussion, Professor Sachs will share insights from both his 25 years of experience advising governments on economic development and his latest book, The Ages of Globalization. Professor Sachs will address how trade and investment can facilitate sustainable and inclusive growth, and how Covid can be a catalyst to reset priorities to create a better and more equitable future for all people.
