The Vietnamese government issued Decision No. 13 on FiT 2 Solar Power last week. This decision has taken over one year and has gone through many revisions since first being circulated for comment in January 2019. What are the new tariff rates for floating and ground-mounted solar projects? What are the implications for rooftop solar? What special provisions were included in the final decision? John Rockhold is CEO and Vice Chairman of Chan May LNG JSC, a Corporate Partner of AmCham. John is considered one of Vietnam’s top energy experts, is a member of the AmCham Board of Governors, and serves as Co-Chair of AmCham’s Energy Committee and Chair of the Vietnam Business Forum Power and Energy Working Group.

Dr. Hoang Giang is President and General Director of Pacifico Energy, a privately held utility-scale renewable power company specializing in development of solar photovoltaic and offshore wind projects. Pacifico has offices in Japan, Vietnam, Korea, and the United States and has over 1 GW of projects either operational or under construction, including their Mui Ne Mega-solar Project. Pacifico Energy is one of AmCham’s newest members.

Nguyen Thanh Hai is a Senior Associate at Baker McKenzie’s Hanoi office. Hai serves as Chair of AmCham’s Legal Committee and is an expert on energy, mining, and infrastructure. Baker McKenzie is an AmCham Corporate Partner and founding member of our organization.

Christopher Abrams is Director of the Environmental and Social Development office at USAID Vietnam. Chris oversees a staff of 13 and 22 contract teams implementing a $282 million portfolio focused on Disabilities, Climate Smart Agriculture, Clean Energy, Biodiversity, Higher Education, and Agent Orange/Dioxin Remediation.
