In today’s world, you cannot separate the digital economy from the real economy. The global digital economy is worth over three trillion dollars and uses approximately 10% of the world’s electricity. Businesses in every sector and of every size are increasingly dependent on a secure, stable and trusted Internet to carry out their daily operations.
Even for people that don’t have a full understanding of technology, there is no doubt that the application of cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence, blockchain and other new-generation information technologies, as well as the endless emergence and rapid convergence of new technologies, are changing the way people work, changing the way companies work, and changing future prospects and opportunities for Vietnamese people.
Almost every country in our region is working to grow a modern, digital economy, which will attract future investment and high-paying jobs for their people. In its journey towards achieving greater economic progress, Vietnam can take further steps to unlock the full potential of its digital economy.
On November 6 in Hanoi, the American Chamber of Commerce, the European Chamber of Commerce, and the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry are partnering with the Vietnam Internet Association and the Vietnam E-Commerce Association on a workshop to discuss available policy options to boost the impact of the digital economy on economic growth, job creation, and innovation.
