Established in September 1995, Ford Vietnam Limited (Ford Vietnam) is a joint-venture between Ford Motor Company headquartered in Michigan, U.S.A (75%) and Vietnam’s Diesel Song Cong Company (25%). Ford Vietnam’s assembly plant in Hai Duong opened in November 1997, and has as an annual capacity of 14.000 vehicles. Recently in November 2019, Ford Vietnam has been approved for an additional investment of US$82 million (VND1.9 trillion) to upgrade the Hai Duong assembly facility and expand annual production capacity to 40,000 vehicles to help meet rising local demand. With this additional investment, Ford Motor Company is expressing our continued confidence in the future of Vietnam’s auto industry, as well as underscoring our commitment to the market and to meeting the increasing demand for Ford vehicles in Vietnam. The additional investment brings Ford’s total investments in Vietnam to more than US$200 million.
Ford Vietnam also has a nationwide network of 39 authorised dealerships and service centers, which is being further expanded. The company is responsible for 700 local jobs among its Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City offices and Hai Duong plant, and many indirect jobs through its dealer and supplier networks. The new investment will add more than 500 direct Ford jobs in Vietnam, nearly doubling its current total, as well as helping to create thousands more indirect jobs across Ford’s supplier and dealer networks in Vietnam. Ford Vietnam was the first automobile company in Vietnam to receive ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and QS 9000 and ISO/TS16949 – 2002 quality certifications.
Ford Vietnam has been selling vehicles in Vietnam for 25 years and today we are building on our success story in Vietnam with a wide range of cars, SUVs, pickup trucks and commercial vans, i.e. Ford EcoSport, Transit, Everest, Ranger, Ranger Raptor, Explorer, and the new MPV Tourneo that was launched in September 2019. In addition, three out of six current products are segment leaders in years including Ranger, Transit and Explorer; while Everest recorded a strong growth recently.
Besides, Ford Vietnam is also an active participant in a wide-range of social and community projects throughout Vietnam. Ford Vietnam pioneered safe driving stewardship in Vietnam by launching the global Ford’s Driving Skills for Life (DSFL) program for the last 12 years which includes the continued success of our No Honking campaign, Play Day for Children campaign, Global Month of Caring, and numerous other initiatives that help to improve the lives of Vietnamese people. Ford has partnered with the National Traffic Safety Committee, Asia Injury Prevention Foundation, and Ministry of Education and Training to help deliver DSFL’s safe driving messages across Vietnam. This emphasis has been key to the development of the company’s strong corporate reputation and is aligned with Ford’s aim of helping to build a better world.
Ford Vietnam take pride in having been one of the first foreign companies to invest in Vietnam in 1995, and in our ongoing role in contributing to the development of the Vietnamese auto industry as well as the economy overall.
