GE was one of the first American companies established in Vietnam in 1993, even before the U.S. embargo was lifted. GE first set up a representative office in Hanoi that year, and another subsequently in Ho Chi Minh City in 2001, working in partnership with local organizations. In 2003, GE established GE Vietnam Ltd., a 100% GE capital investment that offers a wide range of after-sales services for medical, electrical and energy equipment.

GENTHERM VIETNAM CO., LTD was established in May 2014. The construction of the factory started in September of that same year and was completed in 12 months in August 2015.
In Vietnam, operations were launched beginning of January 2016, starting with the manufacturing of automotive seat heating. This Gentherm factory is located on an area of 37,000sqm in Duy Tien district, Ha Nam province, Vietnam. The factory was built to follow the latest state-of the art principles in lean manufacturing as well as providing a safe and positive working environment where employees are encouraged to build a culture of transparency and collaboration.
At the present Gentherm Vietnam employs over 700 people, producing Automotive seat heating, Automotive harnesses, Heat vent systems and Air Moving Devices.
Gentherm Vietnam’s management system has been successfully certified according IATF 16949, OSHAS 18001 and ISO 14001
