VBF Briefing on Vietnam's
Personal Data Protection Decree

In mid-April, the government of Vietnam issued its Personal Data Protection Decree (PDPD), which had been in a drafting process since 2019. The Decree is now known as Decree No. 13/2023/ND-CP on 17 April 2023. It is set to take effect on July 1 without any transition period (for most companies) and the Decree retains provisions to which AmCham has previously objected. These concern its extra-territorial scope of application, its broad definition of personal data and data processing, onerous requirements around data flows out of Vietnam, new consent requirements, and more.

Members are invited to a virtual briefing on the PDPD hosted by the Vietnam Business Forum. The briefing will cover the PDPD’s most notable requirements, potential impacts for members, and relevant employment issues here.

There is no cost to participate. This virtual meeting is English-language and registered participants will receive the Zoom link prior to the meeting. Please register your participation by clicking on the button below or by calling the AmCham office (84) 24 3934 2790.
